With the Oxford and Cambridge lightweight crews taking centre stage at the Henley Boat Races (HBR) from 2015, the HBR Executive is looking to appoint a Race Organiser to join the team this season. S/he will work alongside the current Organiser for the 2015 races and take sole charge from May 2015 for the 2016 races onwards.
The Race Organiser works closely with the HBR Exec (made up of representatives of the four competing clubs) to deliver the Henley Boat Races and associated events during Race Week and on Race Day.
The role involves close liaison with the Environment Agency, the University Clubs, safety cover providers and the local Henley organisations and rowing clubs, which provide valuable support for the HBRs. The Organiser will need to be able to manage spectator logistics, including car parking and catering, and work with the Umpires Panel and Race Control for all water and race based activity.
Although not essential, it is likely that the Race Organiser will have close historical links with one of the University rowing clubs.
