Rowing Senior Squad Coach

SURHUL is currently recruiting a coach for its Rowing Senior Squad. (Fixed term) Royal Holloway has a growing ambition to develop sport within the institution and has set the target to be the highest ranked of institutions of its size in the BUCS league tables. Sport has a growing profile within the institution and in recent years has received increasing investment. Royal Holloway currently rows out of a facility along the River Thames near Staines and boasts a fleet of boats, from singles to eights with both sweep and sculling equipment. Each year we have over 60 members joining the club who go on to compete in university and open events throughout the year. We are looking for: - A Senior Squad Coach that can provide support and coaching to our senior men’s and women’s squads. Applicants must be able to work with the University schedule and be in attendance at all designated training sessions (Essential) and race events (Essential). The post holder will be expected to devise and implement a training programme in conjunction with the squad captains, which runs throughout the university rowing calendar, primarily in term time (September-December, January-March, April-June) but with additional time outside of term available in agreement with the club committee. Duties - Provide 10 hours of water training per week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, and Thursday and Friday evenings - times can be flexible) - Additional sessions as arranged with the committee - To coordinate the senior squad - To oversee the selection of race crews - In conjunction with the captains create and implement a year round training plan for senior squad - Set and monitor performance targets for athletes - Provide and support land training sessions - Attend rowing events where agreed with the committee - Assist with transportation of boats and equipment to race events - Full UK Driving licences with the ability to provide trailering (Desirable) - Crew fitness testing Preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate: - A proven track record developing successful programmes - Qualified level 2 or higher - Experience at the university, national league level, or above (Desirable) - Links with junior national league programs or junior international level. (Essential) - Ambition to help Royal Holloway rowing club become established as high performance rowing programme. Salary/rate: £15-20 per hour Rates of pay will be paid on an hourly rate and will take into consideration experience, knowledge of the sport.
