ROWING COACH (PART TIME)- 6 Month contract
Founded in 1646, Reading Blue Coat School has a long and distinguished history. Set in a beautiful country estate of 46 acres of grounds and woodlands overlooking the River Thames in Sonning, we provide a wonderful working environment. In recent years the School has expanded to over 740 pupils aged between 11 and 18.
We have a vibrant Boat Club which has grown significantly in recent years, driven by an enthusiastic team of coaches and athletes who are keen to learn and fun to work with. Blue Coat have prequalified for the Henley Royal Regatta over the past five years and Blue Coat crews have reached the finals and been victorious in a number of events in the National Schools Regatta.
We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic rowing coach to work 18 hours per week, commencing in January 2016. You will assist with the coaching of boys and girls from J14 to J18, in particular leading the J14 groups. You will prepare and support crews for races throughout the year, including national competitions. You will also assist with training both on and off the water.
Hours of work will be primarily in the afternoons during the week and on Saturday mornings or afternoons.
You must be an able rowing and sculling coach, with a real passion for your sport. You must convey energy and enthusiasm; be an effective leader and role model for our students; and be able to communicate effectively with parents, pupils and staff.
A UKCC Level 2 coaching qualification is preferred and some experience of working with children is also favoured.
