HCBC is looking for lower boat coaches for our men's and women's sides for the 2013-14 academic year, with the opportunity for longer term involvement within the club.
The Club has a strong and enthusiastic lower boats membership, regularly fielding 3 women's lower boats and 2 men's lower boats in Summer Eights. The men's 2nd VIII went up 3 places in this year's Eights. The women's 2nd VIII are currently 8th 2nd VIII on the river, but over the past 10 years have regularly held a top 5 position.
We are looking for two experienced, dedicated and passionate coaches, one to work with each squad, to join the HCBC coaching team. The successful candidates will be joining an extensive team, supported by our Director of Rowing, Paul Mattick, and our senior coaching team. Roles will include planning and delivering the training programmes for the lower boats and developing rowers for our senior squads. It is likely that much of the coaching in Michaelmas Term will involve working with our novice intake.
We also offer the opportunity to work on our Michaelmas, Hilary and Trinity term training camps, with the potential to coach on the Radley stretch. The Club is very supportive of taking lower boats to race at external events.
The positions will begin in October 2013 and we will be offering payment at competitive rates. Exceptional candidates with limited coaching experience will also be considered.
